How To Achieve The 'Quiet Luxury' Style

Succession’s Shiv Roy ‘quiet luxury’ style.

Quiet Luxury, Stealth Wealth, Elevated Neutrals

The concept ‘Quiet Luxury’ has ironically been creating a rather loud buzz recently. This style has been seen in The Row and Bottega Veneta’s catwalk shows, HBO drama Succession and. Gwyneth Paltrow’s stealth wealth courtroom style. Which spoke volumes before Gwyneth even uttered a word.

This pared back look places and emphasis on quality craftsmanship over attention-grabbing logos and fashion fad detailing. The focal point is for the wearer to exude a subtle elegance and sophistication. While it may be being touted as a luxury trend ‘QL’ is not automatically just synonymous with high-end designer labels. This is a fashion movement that reflects a shift towards more thoughtful shopping habits, prioritising quality over quantity and making long-term investments.

Fit & Fabric

If you favour tailoring invest a significant percentage of your budget in blazers/jackets and trousers. Coats in shopping in winter.

Consider alterations to achieve the perfect fit.

Anything oversized needs to be effortlessly balanced to stop luxury turning to saggy.

Opt for cashmere or silk mix knits. Never ever hang knitwear. Gravity causes jumpers to lose their shape and rubbing alongside the rest of your clothes results in bobbling.

Shoes should be pristine.

Non logo bags should be flawless.

Labels

Whilst Lora Piana, Bottega Veneta, Khaite, Prada, The Row and Bruno Cucinelli are the pricier hero labels of this look, there are more purse friendly options.

Labels such as Max Mara, Toteme, Tove, N Peal, Joseph, Vince, Malene Birger, Aspinal and Smythson all offer affordable luxury.

Theory, Reiss, Cos, Uniqlo, Arket and Massimo Dutti offer up high street luxurious looks.

Items

Trench coats, silk shirts, blazers and twin sets are all timeless pieces that work with this look.

Colour Palette

Choose a neutral palette that suits your complexion. Gwyneth went for navy, white, grey, black, khaki, and tan boots. Bright coral, brown, rust, camel and beige tones could also be incorporated for warmer skin tones – Gwyneth has quite a cool complexion.
